Toddler Playground
A fenced, shady, handicapped accessible, and unstaffed playground is owned and maintained by the District of Columbia’s Department of Parks and Recreation in the Newark Street Park. It is designed for toddlers and young children. There are swings and a variety of play equipment suitable for this age group, as well as a picnic table and some benches. |

Youth Playground
In addition to the tot lot in the Newark Street Park, there is another playground geared more for elementary school children just a block away on 39th Street in McLean Gardens. This unstaffed playground is maintained by McLean Gardens, but the National Park Service owns the land underneath and around the play equipment. The equipment allows for vigorous climbing and physical activity. Adults should accompany children in the playground. |
