Locks and Keys |
The McLean Gardens Condominium Association maintains a dual key system, one for emergencies and the other for courtesy/convenience purposes.
Emergency Keys
-
These keys are used by Management in the event of an emergency that requires entry into an individual unit. It is the unit owner’s responsibility to ensure that the office has functional keys on file for your unit. -
Re-keying existing locks do not require approval, but owners and tenants must provide Management with a copy of the new key. Adding or changing locks on a door, however, requires the approval of the Covenants Committee. Locks must be in scale with the door and match the other hardware on the door. The applicant must deposit a current key with Management for emergency access to the unit. See Policy Resolution No 7, Locks, and Keys.
Courtesy/Convenience Keys
-
The courtesy/convenience key is voluntarily provided by the unit owner. This key is used in case the owners lock themselves out and for admittance of guests and/or outside contractors. A Convenience Key Agreement, signed by the unit owner (and tenant, if the unit is rented), must be on file in the office before unit keys can be given to guests and/or contractors. The Convenience Key Agreement confirms your acceptance of responsibility for admittances using the courtesy key. The McLean Gardens maintenance staff also uses the convenience key to enter units for In-Unit Maintenance work requests.
